Lovely Days...

Happy New Year!
Since giving birth to my son 6 months ago, starting a teaching assistant course and volunteering in a school two days a week the time has flown past and I have barely done any design work. This week I have rediscovered my sketchbook and have begun to get inspired again by visiting Pinterest and doodling some abstract patterns. This year my plan is to build up my portfolio by doing as much drawing as possible, to take up some commission work, and work on some personal design projects. Here's to a successful new year!...

Where we went

This project is all about where myself and my fiance Karl have traveled to both together and apart. We are expecting a baby in July and are thinking of ways to decorate the nursery, and as we are both mad on travelling we think this is a great way of teaching our little one about places around the world. So far I've included travels to Amsterdam and Paris, with many more adventures to come.

New Designs

Today I began work on some new Easter designs. It's early days as I've only just begun the collection, but here is a little look at what I've started!

Katiane Business Card
Here are some business card designs I did as a commissioned project for jewellery brand Katiane. I produced illustrations of the jewellery sold by the company to make the designs which will be introduced in the new year along with a brand new updated look at Katiane!

Doodle of the Day
Today I've been busy preparing my Christmas/Everyday cards for print, making amendments to a business card commission, and preparing for the next craft fair! I managed to fit in a 5 minute doodle, which started off as a fairisle pattern, and has actually ended up looking more like an 80s graphic style print. Something very different for me, but I like it!!

Collage/Layered Card
Good Morning! Just thought I'd share with you this new Christmas card design I did yesterday. I enjoyed using lots of different elements and layering them up together. I intend to make more like these, introducing new textures including hand printed and cut-out bits and pieces. I am enjoying the "handmade" effect at the moment. I love how it means you can put your own mark on something - to make it special and unique. That's the beauty of handmade.

Bauble Wrap

Another new giftwrap idea for Christmas. Getting excited about the festivities now - really like the green I've chosen for the background it's almost pea green, or olive? ...Well anyway I enjoyed doing this one as I made the little baubles up completely without drawing from real life (which I pretty much always do!) I knew what I wanted and it was in my head and it came out on the paper. Not a bad idea.

Society6

I've just received an email telling me that my circle repeat design has been picked to go in the Society6 shop, which is great! You can visit here. I love visiting their website and seeing what I can decorate with my designs. Here are the start of some new iPhone covers - beautiful! I want an iPhone now please! Goodbye Blackberry.

Babushka!

Today I've been working on some more christmas themed ideas; one of which being this little lady! I took the beautiful colour palette from a scarf I found online at Accessorize whilst starting my Christmas shopping. I just love cheery colours like these. Thinking of printing the dolls on some cards to sell at my many festive craft fairs that are coming up.

Christmas Cards
New Doodles

Just a couple of new scribbles I've made whilst I should be doing Christmas cards. I love drawing with my right hand (that's my wrong hand) because it gives a different look and imperfection is much more interesting than perfection. I would love to develop these into some nice repeat prints once I'm finished with Christmas!!

Christmas is Coming
Christmas is on its way and it's my favorite time of year :) ...unfortunately my man isn't going to be home over Christmas but instead it means I've got all the time in the world to beaver away in my studio with minimum interruptions!! The first design I've come up with is this fairisle inspired giftwrap design. Not a fan of traditional Christmas colours, I have started with a bold colour palette influenced by my recent findings whilst out and about in the high street, walking the dog and trawling the internet for inspiration. It's even got a bit of jumper in it!
Many more designs to come with many more themes and styles.

Amazing Holiday

Returned from Marrakech last night and feeling refreshed and super inspired with lots of design ideas! There was so much colour and detail with so much to see. I loved it!! Here is some of what I saw whilst there. Some photos and some drawings (couldn't resist doing some scribbles so I had to resort to drawing in my holiday reading books!)
